I did it. After 6 months of work, I finished a bag of fiber that someone sent me.
Normally, it would not take me this long to finish a project, but the fiber was baby Suri alpaca, which involves high twist, careful handling and slow, steady movements to create a lovely yarn that has incredible drape, luster and feel.
I got a total of 10 skeins from this fleece, which is pretty decent. Total yardage is somewhere around 1,200 yards.
Now, to go do the other two bags of Suri alpaca that are still upstairs....
Stay tuned to find out what else has been going on around here! With luck, I will do another post on Monday!

Do you sell your yarn and if so, how can I find out how much it costs??
Hi Karen,
I was going to point you in the direction of my Etsy shop, but then realized that there is nothing in there at the moment! :-/
I do sell my yarn, but prices vary, due to fiber, yardage, etc...
But here is a rough estimate: (*Note* I do lower my prices when customers need more than 2 or 3 skeins, these are prices for single skeins)
Pure alpaca: $25 per skein. I can do various colors for this.
Pure cashmere: $40 per skein. Colors available are white, gray and brown.
Sheep: $15 to $20 per skein.
Blends such as alpaca/cashmere: $30 per skein.
People who aren't used to handspun yarn prices usually jump when they hear what I ask for my yarn, but I know quite a few people who sell their yarn for $100 to $200 per skein (around 200 yds. per skein) and can't keep up with the demand; so I figure my prices aren't too bad... ;D

Oh yeah, I can also put beads in the yarn by customer request. :) No additional cost there....
